About Food Ingredient and Health Research Institute

Our Mission

At Food Ingredient and Health Research Institute, our mission is to  eliminate harmful contaminants in food and food production through  research, consumer education, and public reporting.

Learning Opportunities

We created curriculum for learning how what we eat determines how our genes behave. Heavy metals in the food supply can silence important genes and create conditions for the development of disease. Our curriculum was successfully tested in three clinical trials. Participants learned how to avoid heavy metal exposures in the food supply

Our Programs

To accomplish our educational goals, we offer a variety of programs to help our communities learn about healthy diet and nutrition. Via clinical trial work or community food and nutrition education programs, we provide consumers with what they need to improve family health and child learning outcomes.

    United States Congressional Reports 2021

In 2021, the US Congress issued two reports on the problem of heavy metals in baby foods sold in the United States. The problem continues today as it has for many, many years. Only through research can we collect the data needed to remove the legally allowable heavy metals from the food supply. The old model of evaluating the toxicity of one heavy metal at a time must change because in reality, our children are being exposed to several heavy metals at a time every single day. These co-exposures to heavy metals are major factors in the development of diseases and disorders via gene-environment interactions.
